Respect4us is about providing the pastoral support young people need before they are able to re-engage with learning. We are not a school, we do not follow National Curriculum and we do not prioritise qualifications as an aim for our youngsters. We think the work we do is far more important. However, where a young person is ready, we will encourage them to get qualifications. With our Y11s we think it important that they can demonstrate to potential colleges, trainers and employers that they are capable of achieving and making progress.
OCR
We are an accredited examinations centre for OCR and we will enter our YP for OCR Cambridge Progression units where appropriate. The picture on the right shows our board of fame where we display the certificates already achieved by previous KS4 students. In January 2015 a number of our Y11s have already passed several units. Some examples:
Paris Arthur: Entry level 3 in English, reading straightforward texts, Entry Level 3 in Maths, decimals in money and length, Level 1 in English, speaking skills, Level 1 in maths, measurement and time.
Robbie Drummond: Entry level 3 in maths, decimals in money and length, Entry level 3 in English, reading straightforward texts.
Gabrielle Dack: Entry Level 3 in maths, measurement and time, Entry Level 3 in maths, decimals in money and length, Entry Level 3 in English, reading straightforward texts
Konrad Latacha: Level 1 in English, speaking skills, Entry level 3 in maths, decimals in money and length.
When a student has five units at level 1 it is the equivalent of a GCSE at that level. The units are fully portable and can be taken with them to college and added to at later stages.
